ICPC HOLDS ROUNDTABLE WITH STATE COMMISSIONERS IN ABUJA

A roundtable engagement between the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission ICPC and Commissioners of Information from all the states of the federation has opened today in Abuja.
Taking place at the Rockview Hotel Royale, Wuse II. The one-day engagement is expected to set an agenda for setting strategic integration of state Commissioners of Information in the fight against corruption.
Chairman of the ICPC Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu in his opening remarks said the theme for the roundtable “Partnership for Strengthening Transparency and Accountability at State and Local Government levels Through Strategic Communication” was carefully crafted to address the issues of anti corruption drive in the country.
It aims to, he said, among other objectives, foster greater synergy between the ICPC and state Commissioners of Information to enhance public awareness for transparency and accountability at state and local governments levels
as well as to serve as a platform to develop actionable Media strategies for coordinated anti-corruption messages using different local languages and dialects and to harmonize strategies for behavioral change campaigns and public engagement in the fight against corruption.
The Commissioner of Information and Culture, Kebbi state Alhaji Yakubu Ahmed Birnin Kebbi is among the set from across the country attending the roundtable engagement.
In attendance are special guests, media executives and discussants and panelists which includes the Minister of Information Alhaji Mohammed Idris Malagi.
