Governor Ademola Adeleke Kick-starts Payment of New Minimum Wage in Osun State
In line with the avowed commitment of the present administration.
To the welfare of workers across the entire gamut of the public service in the State, the Governor, Senator (Dr.) Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke, has graciously approved the implementation of the new minimum wage of #75,554.28 for all categories of employees of Osun State Government, including Local Governments. This development, which is a further affirmation of the topmost priority accorded workers and pensioners in the 5 point Action Plan of the administration, is geared towards ensuring a productive public service that will ultimately bring about efficient and effective service delivery across the State.
In the same vein, the governor has magnanimously approved an improved pension package of twenty-five thousand Naira (#25,000.00) only across board to pensioners in the state. This development is in consideration of the plight of our senior citizens and the need to take care of all outstanding issues affecting pensioners in the state.
It is to be noted that the implementation of the new minimum wage in the State is in line with the attached table which was arrived at following exhaustive negotiations and deliberations between the government and the organized labour in the State, bearing in mind between necessary parameters such as availability of revenue, possible revenue forecast, existing debt burdens, sustainability and continued growth and development of Osun State among others. The effective date of commencement of the new minimum wage is 1st December 2024, while one month arrears shall be paid. It is to be noted that other salary structures within the public service system would be attended to as appropriate.
To this end, all Public Servants in the State, including Local Government employees, are enjoined to reciprocate the kind gesture of Mr. Governor by working hard with renewed vigour and agility to improve on the current level of service delivery and revenue generation while maintaining a high level of commitment and dedication to duty.
All Accounting Officers of Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), including Local Governments, are to note the foregoing and give it the deserved service – wide publicity. I thank you.
